A research report from CRER using Scotland’s 2022 Census and the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) to show that Black and minority ethnic communities are 60% more likely than white Scottish/British people to live in the most deprived areas of Scotland, and that this gap has widened since 2011. The report breaks findings down by ethnic group, domain of deprivation, age and region, and calls for targeted policy action to address racialised poverty.
