Purpose and vision

This equality and human rights mainstreaming toolkit aims to to support people who work in the public sector across Scotland in embedding equality and human rights into all aspects of their work. Our vision is to create a Scotland where equality and human rights are central to every policy, process, and practice from the very beginning.

This toolkit fulfils the Scottish Government’s Programme for Government commitment (2023–2026) to ‘publish our mainstreaming framework which will include an action plan and toolkit, setting out practical steps to achieve this ambition.’ It represents the culmination of extensive engagement, and ongoing collaboration with stakeholders.

The toolkit aims to serve as a  resource to aid practical implementation, aiming to provide you with  tools, knowledge, and confidence to make equality and human rights central to your organisation’s success.
