A toolkit (updated 2023) providing guidance for organisations, systems and workforces in Scotland to create trauma-informed and responsive change, supported by the National Trauma Transformation Programme.

To get the most from this resource

Organisations can:

1) Ensure senior leadership commitment before implementation;

2) Start with organisational readiness assessment;

3) Provide foundation training on trauma understanding;

4) Develop implementation plan across all 10 domains;

5) Establish governance structures for oversight;

6) Create safe spaces for staff discussions about trauma;

7) Ensure adequate resources for training and support;

8) Develop sector-specific adaptations while maintaining core principles;

9) Establish evaluation and monitoring systems;

10) Connect to existing safeguarding and wellbeing policies;

11) Consider staff support needs given trauma-informed approach requirements;

12) Link to broader organisational culture change initiatives.
